Water jet cutting is based on a very simple functional principle where a thin stream of water hits the surface of the workpiece at high speed. To generate the required high-pressure water jet, a high-pressure pump pressurizes the water up to several kilobars and directs it to the cutting head, which removes and separates the material.
Depending on the material to be cut, the water can also be mixed with abrasive. Water with a jet diameter of 0.1 to 0.5 mm is ejected from the fine nozzle opening of the cutting head. The jet capacity depends on the water pressure and the diameter of the nozzle opening. water jet separates the material particles near the surface and performs a stress-free cutting process without heat entering the material. Depending on the nature of the water jet and the hardness and thickness of the material, different cutting depths and speeds can be achieved. The cutting system uses a high pressure pump and nozzle to generate a high pressure water jet.
